Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Cream-Gel is a luxurious, creamy, tropical-scented body wash. It has a long-lasting scent and a beautiful texture that creates an indulgent shower experience. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on this luxury body wash from Sol de Janeiro.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Body Wash Review
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel is packaged in a thick plastic bottle with a flip-top cap. The plastic isn’t quite a soft touch packaging like NARS, but it is less shiny than other plastics. I think this was a good design choice because it makes the bottle less slippery. Aside from that, it’s pretty basic packaging. Nothing revolutionary, but also nothing that causes any sort of problems.
Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Glycol Stearate, Fragrance, Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuau) Seed Butter, Euterpe Oleracea (Aa/Aa) Fruit Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut/Noix De Coco) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower/Tournesol) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean/Soja) Oil, Tocopherol, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Polyquaternium-7, Sorbic Acid, Tetrasodium ETA, BHT, Bixa Orellana Seed Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Coumarin, Limonene.
According to Sol de Janeiro, the scent is a mixture of salted caramel, pistachio, and vanilla. It’s a very strong, sweet scent that’s tropical but creamy. It kind of reminds me of a tropical cocktail. It’s a very warm scent, but there’s a hint of fruitiness that keeps it from being too heavy. Although I personally love the scent, I do have to warn you that it’s very strong, so if you’re sensitive to fragrance this product may not be for you.
I have good news and bad news, which one do you want first? Good news? Ok, cool. The good news is that this scent lasts a long time on the skin. After about two hours, the scent was still pretty strong and I could easily smell it on myself. Beyond that point, it started to fade and I couldn’t clearly smell the scent on my skin unless I actually sniffed my skin and tried to smell it. If I sniffed my skin, I could still detect the scent seven hours later. It hangs around for a long time, it’s just not super strong the entire time.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play lathers up nicely. It rinses cleanly and easily and doesn’t leave any sort of film or residue behind on the skin. I think it’s very accurate to call this a cream-gel because it’s creamier than a typical gel body wash, but it’s not quite as heavy as a cream. It’s truly somewhere in between.
Oh, the bad news? Ok, so the bad news is that this body wash isn’t very moisturizing. It’s not drying by any means, it’s just average, or maybe slightly better than average. However, because it’s described as a moisturizing body wash, I do take a bit of an issue with this. I actually purchased it because I was looking for a more hydrating body wash to help with my dry skin during the winter, so this was a bit of a let down for me in that aspect. I was expecting this body wash to have more of a moisturizing impact than it does, but I think if you layered this with Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, you could achieve beautifully moisturizing skin. On its own, it just wasn’t enough for me.
Although Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Body Wash isn’t as moisturizing as I’d like it to be, I do still love it. I think the scent is incredible and combined with the creamy texture, it really turns using this body wash into a luxury experience. I love using Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play when I need a little pick-me-up or when I want to feel like I’m pampering myself. I think if you’re mostly looking for moisture from your body wash, you may feel a bit let down by Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play. However, if you’re more interested in a body wash with a long-lasting fragrance or you want something that’s going to give you that luxurious, summery feeling then I think you’ll love Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play.
