Innovative Makeup Alert: Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara Review

Ever struggle to get the little curly lashes at the edges of your eyes coated in mascara? Ever make a mess of your eye makeup trying to reach them with a traditional mascara wand? The Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara is finally here to address that problem.

Disclosure: I received Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara complimentary for review purposes from Influenster. This post is not sponsored. This post does not contain affiliate links. All opinions are my own, honest opinions and experiences.

I’ve been testing out this mascara for a few weeks now, and I’m finally ready to share my thoughts. Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara is designed with a wand that can bend at a 90 degree angle to help you reach every lash. It’s innovative for sure, but upon first glance I did worry that it might just be a gimmick. Thankfully, it’s not.

Being able to bend the brush at that angle makes it possible to get the lashes at the outer corner, which is definitely something I’ve struggled with in the past. I have some lashes at the outer corner that really curl in, making them hard to coat with mascara without making a mess. With some wands, I can get to them, but the brush on this Givenchy mascara truly does make it easier, so I would say it’s definitely not a gimmick. It’s also more effective and less terrifying than the spiky ball of death on the tips of other mascara wands. I use this first as a normal straight wand, then bend it using the edge of the tube to get my corner lashes.

The brush also does an excellent job of combing through lashes because it has tons of tiny little plastic bristles set in layered rows. That’s actually my favorite thing about this mascara because I feel like this type of wand does an amazing job of combing through every lash to define them and fully coat them with product without getting clumpy. I’ve noticed that with the layered rows, I also get mascara on my eyelids less often.

As for the formula, it’s an inky black gel that coats every lash without feeling crunchy. I did have a bit of flaking from this mascara, but not bad enough to give me panda eyes. Be forewarned though, this may not be a good option for anyone with sensitive eyes because it does have fragrance in it. It smells pleasant, it’s the standard “luxury mascara” scent that smells like a nondescript perfume, but it can be a bit irritating for sensitive eyes.

A must-have? No, but I do think Givenchy has done something quite interesting, and I think it’s worth giving it a shot if you enjoy luxury products or are looking to splurge.
