The Best Foundation for Summer: MAC Face & Body Review

When most people talk about Las Vegas weather, they describe it as being a “dry heat.” This is true for most of the year, but come July, not only do we have temperatures between 100-115 degrees Fahrenheit on a daily basis, our humidity soars up to 40-90%. In other words, summer in Vegas feels like living in a sauna. As you can imagine, keeping makeup on in this weather is a challenge, but I’ve finally discovered a foundation that can handle the heat.

Glossier Lidstar Review: Moon and Lily

Sometimes I do this weird thing where I hesitate to take interest in super popular things. Like, I didn’t start reading Harry Potter until book 3 came out because I just couldn’t imagine the books would live up to the hype (they did). Whether it’s hype anxiety or me being a hipster douchebag for two seconds, I’m not really sure, but it kept me from giving in to Glossier for a good long while. Lidstar was the product that finally broke me down because I had to have the shade Moon. It’s truly one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen. I figured if I was already placing an order for Moon, I might as well order a few more things, right? I’ve already reviewed the Generation G Lipstick if you’re curious about that one. Today, however, we’re talking about Lidstar, specifically the shades Moon and Lily.

Glossier Generation G vs. ColourPop Blotted Lip Review + Swatches

Just looking at the Glossier Generation G lipstick and the ColourPop Blotted Lip, it’s easy to see some immediate similarities. However, there are also some important differences that may impact which one you decide to buy, if any. Naturally, I thought a comparison review was necessary. Today I’m sharing my review of the ColourPop Blotted Lip and the Glossier Generation G Lipstick to help you make your decision. Thanks to fellow beauty blogger Maria for inspiring this post!

My Skincare Routine: What I Use And Why + Differin Update

If you follow me on Instagram (shameless plug) then you see my skincare routine on a pretty regular basis, but I know just seeing a routine sometimes isn’t enough to understand the full picture. That’s why I want to walk you through my skincare routine and explain every single product I use, why I use it, and how it fits into my routine. The only products I’m not going to talk about in this post are masks because for me they’re something I only use 1-2 times per week (if that), and because this post is already going to be absurdly long as it is. If you want me to do another post on my face masks, drop me a comment down below or on IG letting me know, and I’ll get to it ASAP.

This post has been a long time coming, but I’ve always held off on doing it because my routine changes so much based on what I’m currently testing. At this point, I feel like my routine is stable enough that I can finally share the logic behind it all. Plus, I’ve had a lot of questions lately about what order to use products in, so this is obviously something y’all are curious about. I’m happy to help! I’m also including a Differin (adapalene) gel update because it’s been over a year since I first started using it and I definitely have some new information to share!

Without further ado, here’s my skincare routine.

Becca Bright Eyes Collection Review: Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer, Under Eye Brightening Corrector, and Under Eye Brightening Setting Powder

*deep breath* Hi. My name is Cristine, and I’m a zombie.

Ok, not really, but my dark circles are so intense, some days I feel like I should be at a support group for zombies. I wake up looking like an extra from The Walking Dead, and if I don’t wear make up I get asked if I’m ill. Yeah, it’s that bad.

Since my dark circles are so intense, I’m always excited to test out new ways of concealing, correcting, and brightening my under eye area. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the Becca Bright Eyes Collection which consists of: Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer, Under Eye Brightening Corrector, and Under Eye Brightening Setting Powder. I’ve included photos for every step of the process, plus comparisons to the other color correcting products I own. Is the Becca Bright Eyes Collection right for you? Let’s find out!

My Favorite Podcasts

One of my goals this year is to expand the content I bring you guys. I also want to share more of what excites and interests me. Podcasts are one of those things. I love listening to podcasts, especially when I’m doing something like shooting photos for the blog. They’re also great for when I’m tired of listening to music, or I just don’t know what I want to listen to. Plus, it’s free entertainment. Woohoo! You’ll probably notice a common theme in this list: I like spooky shit. It’s not all that I listen to, but it is a pretty decent chunk of it. I’m always looking for new podcasts to listen to, so leave me your suggestions!

P.S. The links I’ve provided to these podcasts are for their iTunes page because I feel like that’s the most popular way to listen to podcasts, but you can find these podcasts on just about any podcast platform. Just type the name in to your preferred platform and it should come up.

A Few of My Favorite Unconventional Lipsticks + Tips On How To Wear Them

Unless you were born gravitating toward bold or alternative makeup styles, at some point in your life you’ve probably wistfully gazed at an out-of-the-ordinary lip color and thought “ugh, I wish I could wear that.” Maybe you feel like it’s too daring for you, maybe you work in a conservative environment or have people in your life that would make rude remarks about your choices, or possibly it’s the concern I hear all the time “I’m too old for that.” Um, first of all, you’re not. You can wear whatever makes you feel good about yourself at any age, provided it’s on your own time. That’s true of all of the other reasons people have for not wearing what they want to wear. At the end of the day, it’s not that big of a deal, makeup washes off. But something that is a big deal is you feeling confident and powerful enough to wear the things that you love, that show the world who you are. Clearly I have some strong feelings about makeup, and trust me, I could go on about this for quite awhile, but that’s not the point of this post. Today I’m sharing a round up of some of my favorite unconventional shades of lipstick and lip gloss in hopes of helping you find something that you’ll love. I’ll also share some of my tips for wearing unconventional colors that will be helpful whether you’re a dabbler or a first-timer in these bold hues.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Review: Has Urban Decay Finally Hit All The Right Notes?

Urban Decay has been my favorite makeup brand for over 10 years, but I, like many others, have been critical of the Urban Decay Naked palettes. Past problems have included an overabundance of shimmery shades with few mattes to help create a full look, and palettes featuring too many of the same tones, thus reducing the number of looks that could be created. UD has clearly been listening to our criticism by the looks of the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette, but did they finally get it right or is there still something lacking? Today, I’m giving you an in-depth review of the palette, as well as what I would have done differently if I had designed this palette.

Differin Gel Review: How Differin Improved My Skin

Sometimes a product comes along that totally changes your skin. For me, Differin Gel was that product. When I was a teenager, I was pretty lucky to only get the occasional zit. It wasn’t until around 19 or so when I started to suffer from major breakouts, including occasional bouts of cystic acne. I was able to get most of that under control with aggressive AHA and BHA usage, which thankfully my skin can tolerate, and switching to a low pH cleanser. (If you’d like to learn more about why a low pH cleanser is important, especially for acne-prone skin, then check out this super informative post from SnowWhiteandtheAsianPear) However, even with that routine, I was still having a lot of problems with texture, especially little clogs/bumps all over my cheeks. As a makeup addict, this drove me crazy because unlike a zit, which can kind of be hidden, my texture was just always there, and makeup only seemed to make it look worse.

I was ready to start trying something new, and right around that time it was announced that Differin would soon be available for over the counter purchase. Around this same time, Poshly offered to send me a set of all three Differin products to test out and review, so I lucked out and got to try these for free.  As usual, I’ll be sharing my honest thoughts and experiences with you. At this point, I’ve finished a full-size tube of Differin, so I’m ready to share my results with you all!

Disclosure: I received these products for free in exchange for an honest review on Differin’s website. This post is not sponsored. This post does not contain affiliate links.

Lipsticks Most Likely to be Hiding in my Handbag

We all have those lipsticks that never seem to make it back out of our bags once they go in. The one we search our stash for only to find it hiding in a purse or a pocket later. Rather than sharing my favorite lipsticks (could I even narrow it down?!), I’m sharing the lipsticks I reach for in a hurry, the über wearable ones that I know I can always rely on, and the lipsticks I just can’t seem to stay away from. Disappointing Products: Spring 2017

Hidden Gem: Avon True Color Super Extend Nourishing Mascara in Brown Black

I’ll admit it: I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to brands like Avon. I just don’t feel connected to the brand in the same way that I do brands I see every day in Sephora and Ulta, and I haven’t been impressed by the Avon products I’ve tried in the past. However, I’m happy to report that the Avon True Color Super Extend Nourishing Mascara is an exception. Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick Swatch and Review

Since I was about 13 or 14 Urban Decay has been my ride-or-die brand. The edgy packaging, the cheeky names, the variety of colors and glittery neutrals, it’s always just been the brand I felt most connected with, especially when I was disappointed by drugstore products that looked colorful and glittery in the package but performed like absolute trash. Thankfully, drugstore products have come a long way since then and many of them match or even outperform their high-end counterparts. Still, Urban Decay will always be special to me because they helped inspire my love of makeup. Considering my love for the brand, it was a given that I’d pick up some of the new Vice Liquid Lipsticks when they launched, especially with all of the hype surrounding these. Waterproof, transfer proof, comfortable liquid lipstick? Sign me up! Did these live up to the hype? Check out my wear-test and review to find out!
